April 1st SPEAKER:

Bob Showers, author, has written three books on the history of the Twins and North Stars and their stadiums; which include the old Met Stadium, HHH Metro Dome and the Met Center.

Mr. Showers recanted stories from Minnesota legends like Lou Nanny, Jack Morris, Rod Carew, Kent Hrbek, and other great Twins and North Stars players.

The books contain historic photographs that Showers was granted access to by the teams.  Of interest, he used those same photographs as a tool to arouse stories from players when he interviewed them for their stories to include in the book.  This was an effective technique to jog the memories of experiences long past.

We all have heard stories about the secrets of the Dome.   Showers revealed that at the Dome, the Twins players knew that during the 7th inning of home games the stadium staff would open the some of the doors to allow air pressure to escape the building to minimize the air pushing fans out the door at the end of the game.  This created a wind tunnel of sorts that blew out to right field.  The legend is home runs were hit out over the right field fence that ordinarily would have been a long out.
