DECEMBER 10TH SPEAKER:

Terrence Lee Talley

Once you hear a Terrence Lee Talley story you will never forget it! Whether your laughing at Terrence talking about jumping out of mashed potatoes or crying with hearing why it’s important to him that everyone gets a dad hug, everyone leaves knowing that they are not alone and feeling empowered to make a difference. Growing up in the Twin Cities Terrence was taught to “never give up and to help others do the same.” Whether it was coping with be teased for the way he looked, dealing with the death of a parent or graduating from college Terrence never gave up!

Husband to his wife Courtney and father to two daughters, Terrence knows the importance of family. Traveling around the country for over seven years and speaking to audiences of all ages Terrence uses his stories about fatherhood and life to inspire all within ear shot to “never give up”. Believe us when we say, not only will you remember what he said, but you will remember how he left you feeling.

Not many people can point to one event that changed their life but Terrence can point to the exact day, time and movie when everything changed for him. As a young Jr. Higher Terrence felt like he wasn’t good at anything until he saw the movie “Independence Day.” From there his motivation was to become the greatest actor in the world like Will Smith. After barely graduating High School it looked like Terrence was well on his way to accomplishing his goals.

At 19 he was living in California as an actor and even got invited to audition for a Nickelodeon show. But something didn’t feel right, and Terrence became very depressed, so he moved back to the Twin Cities. After trying to figure out what to do next a mentor of his suggested he go to North Central University (2008 Graduate). There Terrence fused his acting ability with his gift for storytelling and combined with his passion for people set him on course to do what he is doing today. His funny look on life and his inspiring stories makes him a great fit for any event.

School Assemblies across the country

Here you will see Terrence take a rowdy crowd of High schoolers and have them laughing and crying in no time. Using his gift of storytelling Terrence can connect and relate to even the most lost/hurting/stubborn student and show them reasons to smile.

Terrence can do multiple different assemblies, including one based on his upcoming book “Secrets Anonymous”.  He believes in exposes the secrets we can give other students hope that they are not alone in their own secrets. Terrence also believes in partnering with schools and community resources to provide students the help they need.

Terrence loves partnering with communities to reach and change their school. He has worked with such groups as Youth Alive, 7 Project, Day One 3D, Reggie Dabbs, Pueblo Connection and campus clubs to have a safe, fun and meaningful impact on campuses across the country.

Conferences/Conventions/Concerts/Tours

Terrence’s multi-faceted roles are a perfect fit for conferences and conventions. Whether teaching a seminar or workshop, emceeing the event, or serving as your keynote speaker, Terrence adds a refreshing energy and excitement to your event. Terrence lets them know in powerful ways that they can change their world and it starts today. A few places Terrence has been North Central University, Trinity College and St. Olaf’s restart program.

Retreats and Camps

Your group will leave changed, inspired, and with a renewed sense of purpose. Partnering with you, Terrence will catapult your theme or vision for the week or weekend by using different stories and relevant demonstrations. Terrence has the uncanny ability to take a room full of strangers and unify them into a community through his interactions and teachings.

Father Michael Becker, The “I” Generation

Fr Michael Becker was born the oldest of three children, and raised in St Cloud, Minnesota.

He graduated from the University of St Thomas in 1987, with Bachelor degrees in theology and economics.

Fr. Becker referenced a book: Meet iGen: The new generation of workers that is almost everything millennials aren’t: by Jean M. Twenge

There’s a new generation following millennials: iGen.

Born between 1995 and 2012, the first of iGen graduated from college last spring. (iGen is sometimes called “GenZ.”
Fr. Becker noted that iGen’ers grew up more slowly as teens, taking longer to work, drive, and date than previous generations.

Less drinking, drugs and lower teen pregnancy describe this new generation.

This generation socializes differently, using their phones instead of getting together in person.

They are so focused on connecting via social media spending over 7 hours during the day using their phone. In addition, some iGen’ers may have more trouble with social skills, given that they have spent less time socializing in person than any previous generation.
