Robert Cancino, Upward Bound, Anoka Ramsey Community College, will be our speaker.

 

Upward bound is a college readiness program that provides academic and personal support to first generation and/or low income in grades 9^th-12^th.  The program provides opportunities, information, and a social community, all of which support students in their pursuit of continuing their education after high school.

-College and Career Exploration

-Campus Visits

-ACT Preparation

-Financial Aid Workshops

-Field Trips/Cultural Activities

-Saturday Sessions

-5 Weeks summer Program

Jackie Johnston, Director of Community Education, Eastern Carver County Schools in Chaska spoke about the Rotary Youth Exchange Program.

 

 Jackie has been a Rotarian for about 17 years and has been involved with the youth exchange program as a YEO and now she serves on the North Star Club Support committee. 

 

She is the PE for the Chanhassen Club.

 

Jackie and several other speakers who joined her encouraged our Club to “Open Home and Heart” to the Rotary Exchange Program.

The Exchanged Program is one of the best in the World and our Club is being encouraged to participate as we have in the past.

 

President Grant and others asked good questions about costs and commitment.  This likely will be a topic of a future Board Meeting.
