Robert Cancino, Upward Bound, located at Anoka Ramsey Community College, was our speaker.
 
Trio Upward Bound is a college readiness program that provides academic and personal support to first generation and/or low income in grades 9th-12th.  This is a federally funded program that provides basic support to high school participants for preparation to post-secondary college entrance. 
 
Upward Bound serves seven local high schools with the area of Anoka Ramsey Community College.
 
To participate in the program, you must be a first-generation college entrant and have a modest family income.
 
To assist students in preparing fro college the Program has twice-a-week study sessions for homework help, ACT practice opportunities, college campus visits, and assistance with applying for scholarships.
 
Khou Yang had the opportunity to work with Robert Cancino when she was in high school.  She said it has had a profound effect on her life.
