Jeff Hintz was named Chief Executive Officer of the Professional Golf Association (PGA) of Minnesota in January of 2017.  Prior to his current role, he served as Director of the 2016 Ryder Cup tournament that was held at Hazeltine National Golf Club in Chaska.  The Minnesota PGA has Coon Rapids roots – it’s offices are located at the clubhouse at Bunker Hills Golf Course.  The mission of the Minnesota PGA is to promote the enjoyment and involvement in the game of golf and to contribute to its growth by providing services to golf professionals and the golf industry.

 

The Minnesota PGA focuses on enhancing the skills of its Professionals, as well as amateurs, employers, manufacturers, employees, and the general public. The group’s goal is to elevate the standards of the golf Professional’s vocation, enhance the economic well-being of the individual member, stimulate interest in the game of golf, and promote the overall vitality of the game.  Jeff Hintz will speak to Coon Rapids Rotary on Monday about the work of his organization.  We hope you can make it.  Here’s a link to the group’s website: https://www.minnesotapga.com/

Coon Rapids Chili Challenge: February 8th

Local recipes on display for 5th annual event to benefit Hope4Youth

Some familiar faces at the 2017 Chili Challenge: Coon Rapids Rotary Club members Gretchen Wesche-Sherman, Steve Wells and Sharon Legg, sample last year's entry.

 

Just a quick reminder that this Thursday, February 8th is the 5th annual Coon Rapids Chili Challenge at the Coon Rapids VFW.  The event will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and include contestants representing the Coon Rapids Lions Club, VFW, Police, Fire, Kiwanis, Women of Today, Northstar Lions Club, Transformative Circle and Coon Rapids Rotary.  Contact Dave McCauley if you are available to help with food preparation and/or meal service.

Hope Dental Clinic's 50 year tradition of free care
 
Tim Mercure, Development Director for Hope Dental Clinic of St. Paul, spoke to Coon Rapids Rotary on January 29, 2018.
 
Last Monday, Tim Mercure spoke to Coon Rapids Rotary about the work of Hope Dental Clinic, which is a free dental service. The clinic is operated by dental professional who donate their time and money by providing free dental care patients who can't afford it.  The clinic began in 1965 in the basement of a St. Paul hotel as part of the Union Gospel Mission.  According to Mercure, last year alone the clinic completed over 12,000 procedures on 2,100 patients.  Dental professionals donated over 4,800 hours of service, in addition to dentists who donated over 1,600 hours of their time.  Thanks to Tim Mercure and the volunteers at Home Dental Clinic for their amazing work in truly serving others.
